Introduction to Public Speaking and Self-Presentation
Presenting yourself in the best light is about more than wearing the right clothes or preparing the best slides: it’s about effectively expressing your ideas. This course will introduce students to the key nuances of public speaking. The topics covered are extremely important to building connections, but are rarely taught in the classroom. Some of the questions we will tackle include: What are the differences between online and offline communication? How does one listen for pain points to decipher what the audience truly desires? What does it take to maintain a network?
By the end of this course, students will know how to:
- Engage personally with target audience
- Prepare psychologically before speaking, including conquering stage fright and recovering from a sleepless night
- Distinguish between online and offline self-presentation styles
- Avoid common public speaking mistakes
